Privacy Policy

Riser ("the app", "we", "us") is an alarm clock and companion game for iPhone. We built it to collect as little as possible. Riser has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no tracking. This policy explains exactly what data the app uses and why.

1. Data that stays on your iPhone

This data is stored only on your device, in the app's private storage. We never receive it:

• Your game and alarms: alarm times, missions, your sprout's name, level, coins, streaks, mission history, island, furniture, letters and settings.
• Camera (push-up, squat and Item Hunt missions): camera frames are analysed in real time, in memory, by Apple's on-device Vision framework to detect body pose or recognise everyday objects. Frames are never saved, displayed to anyone else or uploaded.
• Motion and pedometer: used on-device to count steps for the Morning Walk mission. Not stored beyond the mission's result.
• Alarms and notifications: alarms are scheduled with Apple's AlarmKit, and bedtime reminders are local notifications created on your device. We do not use push notifications or a notification server.

Deleting the app deletes all of this data.

2. Approximate location and weather

If you allow location access, Riser uses your approximate location to place the sun and moon correctly and to show your local weather. To get the weather, the app sends approximate coordinates (rounded to about 1 km) to Apple's WeatherKit service, which provides Apple Weather data. Apple doesn't link these requests to your Apple Account and uses the location only to provide the forecast (see Apple's Privacy Policy). Location is only used while you're using the app, and you can use Riser without it: the app then estimates the sky from your time zone.

3. Purchases (Riser+)

Riser+ subscriptions and the lifetime unlock are sold and processed by Apple through the App Store. We use RevenueCat to confirm whether you have an active purchase. RevenueCat receives a random, anonymous app user ID created on your device, your App Store purchase history and transaction data, and basic technical data needed to validate purchases (such as app version, device OS and country/storefront). We never see or store your name, Apple Account, email or payment details. RevenueCat processes this data on our behalf only to provide purchase validation.

4. What we don't do

• We don't sell or share personal data.
• We don't track you across apps or websites, and don't use the advertising identifier (IDFA).
• We don't use third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.
• We don't create user accounts.

Riser is suitable for all ages and does not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because the app has no accounts and keeps data on the device, children's data is not collected by us.

7. Your rights

Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or the CCPA/CPRA), you may have the right to access, correct or delete personal data and to object to processing. Since almost everything stays on your device, you can delete it at any time by deleting the app. For purchase records held by RevenueCat on our behalf, contact us at the address below and we'll help. Apple's handling of your purchases is covered by Apple's Privacy Policy.

8. Security and retention

On-device data is protected by iOS's app sandbox and data protection. Weather requests use HTTPS and are not stored by us. RevenueCat keeps purchase records for as long as needed to provide the service and meet legal obligations.

9. Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and the date above. Significant changes will also be mentioned in the app's release notes.
